Officials Unveil New Princeton Logo, Logo Design Winner

Jeff Leonard of Princeton is the winner of the consolidated Princeton logo design contest, municipal officials and the Arts Council of Princeton have announced. 

Leonard's winning entry, which depicts a large tree ringed with the words "Princeton, New Jersey" will be used on many items representing the new Princeton, including on municipal letterhead and business cards. 

“I believe this new design is truly representative of the town of Princeton,” Borough Mayor Yina Moore said.  

Earlier this year community members were invited to create a simple graphic to represent the consolidated municipality. 

Of the seventy-five designs were submitted, a jury of five that included Moore, Township Mayor Chad Goerner and marketing professional Crystal McKenzie, chose Leonard’s.

Winner Jeff Leonard is an industrial designer and a Princeton for more than 16 years. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Art and enjoys arts, science, technology, and time with family and friends.

“With 75 entries, this was a very difficult decision. What it came down to was the aesthetic appeal, and how it would work in all different applications,” Goerner said.

Leonard's winning entry, plus two finalists' entries, will be on display at the Township Building, 400 Witherspoon Street through December and the organization ceremony on Jan. 1, 2003.  

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in this logo designers competition, and, we enjoyed seeing everyone’s interpretations for the new town of Princeton,” Arts Council of Princeton Executive Director Jeff Nathanson said.
